The best gifts are the ones that keep on giving. We are grateful for the companies who have partnered with us in unique, creative ways to sustain the mission of the Friends of Fisher House Puget Sound. Your gift allows guests to be near their loved ones, have a comfortable, peaceful place of rest, and provide support for themselves, all at no cost. Thanks to you, Veterans and active duty Military families have a 'home away from home.' This includes providing the simple assurance of knowing what is for dinner and the basic comforts of home; creating a peaceful healing indoor and outdoor space; providing a clean and safe environment; ensuring access to transportation to accompany a hospitalized loved one; ensuring access to technology like home; and creating a sense of camaraderie, family, and normalcy. The Friends of Fisher House Puget Sound support four Fisher Houses in western Washington State. In addition to the Fisher House in Seattle, the Friends also provide support to two Fisher Houses at Joint Base Lewis McChord and one located in Vancouver, Washington. These houses provide housing while the family’s loved one receives care through the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Madigan Army Medical Center, VA Medical Center Portland, or other area hospitals. On behalf of the Friends of FIsher House Puget Sound, staff, and families of Fisher House, thank you again for your donation and support. Your partnership is a gift to these deserving families.

Way to GO GENENTECH!
Special Thanks to Genentech! Genentech prioritizes giving back to our local communities annually, especially during Genentech Gives Back Week in June. The Seattle/Alaska Team loves the mission of the Fisher Houses, which provides a no-cost refuge for individuals
and families supporting a loved one through their healing journey. Additionally, Genentech volunteers at Fisher Houses across the country and makes charitable donations of goods and items. Many members of the Genentech team feel especially connected to the Veteran community, either being Vets themselves or having family members who served. Thus, what better way to demonstrate thanks and recognition than by offering hands-on support and literally getting in the weeds!

Bigfoot Stars
|
Bigfoot Stars is a local chapter of the Quilts of Valor® Foundation (QOVF). Our chapter was organized in June 2022 and is based in Auburn WA. In the past year, we have awarded several quilts to local Veterans and Service Members, and we are ready to award more quilts as nominations are received! Our chapter consists of about 20 volunteers who meet once a month to share deas, inspirations, and updates. We rely entirely on donations of money, fabric and services to make the quilts. If you would like to join us as a volunteer or donate to our chapter, please contact Michele Howe at [email protected].
Bigfoot Stars would like to thank Bigfoot Quilts in Auburn, WA, for their continued support of our chapter.
Bigfoot Stars would like to thank Bigfoot Quilts in Auburn, WA, for their continued support of our chapter.
The QOVF is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, founded in 2003 with the mission of covering Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts.
Each quilt is handmade of quality fabrics, and either machine or hand quilted. A typical quilt is usually the product of several people who collectively design, create, and finish a quilt to be awarded as a way of saying "thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” If you you know of a Service Member or Living Veteran that has been touched by war and who might benefit from a quilt, please consider nominating them for a Quilt of Valor by visiting www.QOVF.org/nominations-awards. Nominees do not need to be local; QOVF is nationwide, and the nomination will be handled by a QOVF chapter near the nominee. |
