The Fisher House Foundation is a charity established in 1990 by Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher, working to support America’s active Military, Veterans, and family members, of the various branches of the American military.

​The Foundation constructs new houses called Fisher Houses at major military medical centers. These houses provide support for military family and friends while they are attending to the needs of a hospitalized loved one receiving care. As of October 2023, 98 Fisher Houses are in operation in the United States, Germany, and in the UK. When the building of a Fisher House is complete, the Fisher Houses are gifted to the VA and Department of Defense, who assume responsibility for operations. Members of the Military, Veterans, and their families are stationed worldwide and often travel great distances for specialized medical care. These homes are free of charge and enable family members to be close to loved ones during stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

​Friends of Fisher House Puget Sound was formed in 2006 to support the ongoing operations and families staying in the VA Puget Sound Fisher House in Seattle. Today, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our service has expanded to include ​all four Fisher Houses located in Washington State. These homes provide peace, respite, and a place for the entire family to heal together.
