Friends of Fisher House Puget Sound, we keep families together because a family's love is good medicine!
"Fisher House is a safe, peaceful, and elegant ‘home away from home’ in a time of need. There are moments in our lives that stand out as great blessings. My experience at Fisher House is one of those blessings and continues to be a tremendous gift to my husband and me."

"My husband, Keith, is a disabled Veteran. He receives his health care at the VA hospital and health care facilities in Portland and Vancouver. Living in Prineville, central Oregon, it takes us four hours to travel the 150 miles for his medical treatment. If the weather or traffic is challenging, it takes considerably longer. I don’t know how we would manage the trip in times of medical emergency or for the frequent short- and long-term hospital stays for Keith without the services Fisher House provides. We know Keith faces more hospital stays in the future. Knowing that Fisher House is there for us is invaluable.
One night, one week, or one month—we have had many stays over many years. Knowing that we will have safe, friendly, and high-quality accommodation gives both Keith and me peace of mind when the need arises. The staff is warm and welcoming and offers great moral support, just like a caring family, far beyond what one would receive at a hotel.
As a side note, I would like to share a special experience I had at Fisher House during one of my month-long stays. It is my nature to be productive, and after daily visiting Keith at the hospital, I found I had some unexpected time on my hands. With the consent of the staff, I brought my sewing machine and fabric, set myself up in the dining room, and over a few days, I made scarves as gifts for the staff and guests. Bringing joy to others brings me joy. Smile all around!"
