Spring 2023 FOFH Memorial Day Message
A Day to Remember
As Memorial Day approaches, Americans come together to remember, to pay tribute to, and express gratitude for the men and women who died in military service to our nation. The Service Members we honor came from all walks of life. These ordinary people carried out incredible acts of selflessness to protect our personal liberties. Fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, neighbors, all understood that service is an action, a commitment, a call to be part of something bigger than themselves.
Protecting our freedom today is not solely the responsibility of the armed forces. Each of us has a role to play. Americans have the freedom and privilege to vote, to speak out against injustices, and to demonstrate courage and resiliency on the heels of COVID 19 and mounting global tensions. We can educate our children about our nation’s history, citizenship, and further understanding about society, relationship to self and others. Education provides a crucial frame of reference for moving forward. We can contribute the gifts we have to offer, individually and collectively, for the greater good.
In closing, Friends of Fisher House Puget Sound honors those who have died in military service. We express sincere gratitude to our nation’s Veterans and active Military families today. We are profoundly indebted to you.
