Giving Back
Irene Breshears stayed at Fisher House in 2009. She and husband Michael live in Canby, Oregon and are active with the Canby-Aurora VFW, Post 6057. Michael still has occasion to come to VA Puget Sound Health Care System for appointments; when he does, Irene comes along and instead of waiting around in the hospital, she comes to Fisher House and cooks a meal for the guest. "I know how much it helps to come home to a nice, hot meal," Irene says. "It is fun for me to do a little something for the families in Fisher House, just like others did for me when I was here".
We are grateful that Irene shares her generous heart, infectious spirit and culinary skills with the families of Fisher House.

The Kramer Family
The Kramer family enjoys providing a meal on a near monthly basis for the Puget Sound Fisher House.
"Visiting with the families that stay at the Fisher House has been a blessing to our family. As staunch supporters of the military, and with veterans in our family as well, we enjoy this opportunity to give back. Cooking for these heroes who have sacrificed so much is the very least that we can do".
Tun Tavern Grub Club
A group of Marine families (hence the name...Tun Tavern was the spot where the Marine Corps got its start) come once a month to prepare dinner for Fisher House families. Each event is a different theme, with decorations and entertainments to match the menu.

Members of the Grub Club pose with their delicious Fiesta spread.
Evergreen Community Church
Members of this Bothell area church have formed a Baking Crew who come every six weeks or so to bake a wide variety of delicious treats for guests of Fisher House.
"Spending the day at the Fisher House baking breads and cookies was so much fun for us. Our time there was made especially memorable by the company of a 5 year old guest who joined in with our baking activities!
We at Evergreen Community Church are thrilled to have a small way to be involved and serve those who stay at the Fisher House. We are so very thankful for the sacrifice these men and women have made in serving our country over the years".

"No two days of volunteering at the Fisher House are ever the same! I do whatever needs to be done to help keep the house running smoothly; my projects vary greatly, from baking treats for the guests, to helping in the garden, to sorting paperwork, to visiting the hospital. Fisher House is a very supportive community full of love and I always leave happier than when I arrived. I am so glad to be a part of Fisher House and am excited to see it continue to grow".

"Volunteering at Fisher House is a way for me to give back in some small way for the many benefits my family and I have received during my 22 years of naval service. Helping with little things around the house allows the staff to concentrate on the important tasks that need to be done to provide the quality service that Veterans and their families deserve".
