“It was a privilege to be welcomed to the VA Puget Sound Fisher House. The building is beautiful as well as being comfortable and relaxing. The kitchen, with all its storage, cooking equipment and attractive dining areas adjacent to its heart, is a wonderful place to prepare a meal or enjoy a cup of coffee and to make friends with fellow residents. After the stress of being with and worrying about our hospitalized loved ones, it is so comforting to “come home” to a lovely home and share its beauty and friendship and give us a change to relax, enjoy, as well as comfort each other. "My husband had treatment here two years ago (before Fisher House). For four months I had to drive 10 miles each way to a hotel, morning and night. I was scared being in an unfamiliar city with no support close by. My husband was also anxious about me leaving each night alone. But this year his annual physical was much more relaxed and we both felt safe and supported by the staff at Fisher House and other guests who knew the "silent fears" we all have about our loved ones' condition. "The Fisher House staff were exceptionally friendly. My room wasn't merely a room, it was a suite! I feel like I am staying in a 5-star hotel. I had forgotten my toothpaste, and in my room was one waiting for me. I can't believe how nice this place is. I was leaving to go have dinner with my father in the cancer ward, and one of the ladies made me a bowl of food to take with me. During this difficult time, the Fisher House was like an angel. I am so happy to have been able to stay so close to my father and to feel so cared about in the Fisher House".
