The staff of the Fisher House does everything possible to take care of our guests by maintaining the house, stocking the pantry, and welcoming each guest with warmth and respect. And yet, It is the families who transform this house into a home. You can smell it in the fresh baked cinnamon rolls or coffee in the morning.
You hear it in the laughter of children, the homey thrum of the washing machine.
You see it as guests come together in the evening to prepare dinner and eat, often together, talking about their day. It is reinforced in the goodbye hugs and exchange of phone numbers and email addresses when people leave. This is the true magic of the Fisher House: people check in as strangers but come together to create a community of understanding and support. They become a unique kind of family, a Fisher House family.
